"Romance for English horn"

English horn and Piano

Here's a snippet of this piece (electronic demo)...

This is a fairly straightforward "song without words" for English horn and piano accompaniment. It was originally intended as the middle movement of an English horn concerto (of which "Festive Dances" was supposed to be the opener) but, like with "Festive Dances," I began to feel as though this work stands very well on its own and have decided to release it as such.

The work is in Bb Major and has a range that fully encompasses what the instrument can do in a lyrical capacity.

I premiered this piece with pianist Daniel Nagy at Pensacola ComposerFest 2006 (the second-ever concert in that series). It's since been performed on several other occasions and has been very well received by each audience.

Who knows, maybe someday I will adapt the piano part for string orchestra. Anything can happen!
